SAN DIEGO David Snyder, a martial arts instructor and acupuncturist, attended the Divine Performing Arts show (DPA) at the San Diego Civic Theater, accompanied by his wife, also an acupuncturist and chiropractor.

Friday night was not the first time they had seen the show, “We come back every year, and we’re excited to be here every time. It’s new, every time it’s new!” Mr. Snyder said.

“I thought it was a fascinating, and breathtaking, in-depth look at the arts of China, and a brief glimpse into its 5000-year history. I think it was a fantastic and exhilarating experience. I also especially liked all the drumming sequences, I think the tones and the rhythms, actually just get you pumped, get you excited, they kind of give you a thrill. And that’s important. That’s one of the things that draws me back, is to see all the different patterns and the rhythms, and the coordination between all the dancers as they do their drumming, and they coordinate all the different aspects of the performance.”

In regards to the 3-D backdrop, Mr. Snyder was also impressed, “The screen is cool. I especially love the way the divine beings fly in and fly out. You can always tell someone’s going to come up from behind the stage, and it’s going to be exciting!

When asked about the spiritual aspects of the Divine Performing Arts, he had this to say.

“Absolutely, I’m a very spiritual guy, and being in the martial arts, and working with energies and things like that, you can’t not accept that there’s something beyond the physical, something beyond the tangible. And the way that manifests is different for every person and every culture, but it doesn’t negate the truth of anything, of any of it. It’s just how you experience it and how you express it.

“It was very obvious throughout the whole performance that there was a deep underlying spiritual core and set of beliefs behind what was being presented.”

San Diego will be host to three more shows over the weekend.
