HOUSTON—After watching the 2009 Divine Performing Arts performance at the Jones Hall for the Performing Arts in Houston, Dr. Gary Renola, mayor of Seabrook, TX, was captivated by the talent of the DPA performers.

“I was just really intrigued with how precise the dancers were and how many [performances] they did and never made a mistake. It was very, very precise, and very, very pretty, all the costumes were very, very pretty also,” he said.

Dr. Renola, who came to see the show with his wife, said he enjoyed all aspects of the performance, and there was no part that he did not like.

“I think I am just struck by the amount of color and the gracefulness of all the dancers, and how light on the feet they are. It’s a very different style of dancing that I am used to in America, but… just the delicate and very precise dancing that I enjoyed.”

Dr. Renola said each performance has a storyline the audience can follow.

“Its, in fact that’s what is a little different than anything I have seen before is you actually are seeing a story each time, and it makes sense. It helps to have a narrator, but I think I would have figured it out anyway.”
