CHICAGO—The Divine Performing Arts (DPA) New York Company performed their second of three shows at the Civic Opera House, Chicago on Saturday night, Dec. 27. Ms. Thurman Chair Curator at a leading Art Institute was in the audience.

Ms. Thurman believed that people all over the world benefit from seeing the DPA shows. “It is very good that Chicago audiences and world audiences see this kind of tradition and become perhaps aware for the first time how old these traditions are,” she said.

Ms. Thurman works with textiles past and present from all around the world. She particularly liked the costumes saying, “It’s a very beautiful presentation, of course the fabrics, the colors, the motion, the dance, it’s ... it is what it is ... I definitely believe that it portrays a spectacular presentation.”

Ms. Thurman has traveled to China, however, she has never seen a performance like this before. She noted, “I have been to China you know, I have listened to Chinese music ... this is very different.”

When asked what her favorite performance was she replied, “I liked the last one, the Tibetan one very much ... that folkloristic aspect I have never seen.”

Chicago will host its final show for this season at 2:00pm on Dec. 28.
