A Georgia Department of Transportation worker was killed on Thursday, Jan. 18 after his truck was struck by a train.
The railway crossing does not have gates or signals, according to the news station.
CSX issued a statement extending its condolences to the family of the driver and confirmed that none of the train crew members were injured.
“CSX extends its deepest sympathies to the family of the driver and to our transportation colleagues at GDOT. CSX personnel are working on site with state troopers as they investigate. None of the four crew members on the train were hurt,” the statement said, reported WSB-TV2.
The CSX train consists of two locomotives, 55 loaded rail cars, and two empty rail cars, according to the statement.
The Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating the crash.
