HONG KONG—Cricket Hong Kong has announced that the Hong Kong Sixes will return this year after a 5 year break. It is scheduled for Oct 28 and 29 at Kowloon Cricket Club.

The fastest format in cricket will see eight international teams participating over two days with each match taking just 45 minutes to complete. It is five years since the last Sixes tournament was played in Hong Kong

Following on from the success of the Hong Kong T20 Blitz in March this year, which attracted 12 million views online from live streams, CHK are targeting the Sixes to top those figures.

The Sixes will be played at Kowloon Cricket Club, which hosted all but one of the Sixes tournaments between 1992 and 2012.

“We are looking forward to have the International Cricket Sixes back at Kowloon Cricket Club,” said Kowloon Cricket Club President David Brettell.

"It is hoped that the return of the Cricket Sixes will fill the niche market for the shorter form of the game in Hong Kong of which the Sixes has previously been the showpiece. KCC is in full support of Cricket Hong Kong’s efforts to reinstate the event.

If the tournament can attract the standard and array of teams that it did previously, it is expected that it will be well supported by local enthusiasts and provide star studded entertainment for spectators.

In the 2012 series there were quality teams from many of the main cricketing nations including winners South Africa, England, Australia, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, China and Hong Kong.
