As the Chinese network market continues to grow, the number of internet users is expected to reach 124 million at the end of 2005, and as many as 155 million by 2006.

According to the report, online market capitalization has already climbed to more than 29.23 billion yuan (US$3.75 billion).

Hu Yanping, director of communications and development of ISC, said at a press conference: “The network market is facing with a rare development opportunity and the third period of growth since the last century during the 90s. The mainland network market has passed its development threshold, advanced from the incubator stage, and entered the time of rapid healthy growth; the Internet era already has arrived. The internet market needs to develop in-depth and bring its unprecedented vigor and vitality into full play in the more specialized markets.”
