Chicago Bulls Kris Dunn managed a spectacular escape on Wednesday night, Jan. 17, against the Golden State Warriors. After slam-dunking with ease, however, Dunn upended and did a face-plant on landing—with painful consequences.
Video of the moment shows Dunn may have held to the hoop a bit too long as the momentum from the jump carried his body forward. When the 6-foot 4-inch tall point guard finally let go, he failed to break his fall with his hands and his face hit the floor.
“Kris Dunn chipped and dislocated two front teeth when he fell with 2:52 left in the fourth quarter in tonight’s game,” the Bulls wrote in a tweet. “He was also evaluated for potential concussion and at this time is clear of concussion symptoms. He will be re-evaluated tomorrow.”
In fact, Dunn hit the floor so hard, he left teeth marks on the court.
As to rub habaneros in his injury, Bulls lost to Golden State Warriors 119-112.
Dunn spent a season with Minnesota Timberwolves before joining the Bulls in June 2017. But he dislocated his left index finger during a preseason game and was thus missed the first four games of the season. Since then his performance has been improving, reaching a career high of 32 points in a 127–124 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 5.
