“I thought [Shen Yun] was wonderful. It was a really interesting exploration of the Chinese cultural diversity amongst the provinces. And then the influence that music and dance have had on each one of those different ethnicities within the country—it was marvelous.”

“I think the Mongolian dance was definitely quite interesting. I think it was that they were free ... There was also a second piece, I can’t remember the name of it, but it was also a very free, fun sort of piece.”

“I’m not sure why freedom stands out [for me]. Maybe being Canadian, living in the land of the free. Having a big country like Canada, we can explore so much landscape. China’s also a very big country, and there’s a lot of beautiful landscape to explore over there.”

“The cultural values [portrayed in the show] are very rich. [The performance] is stimulating, it’s tranquil, and it’s opening a lot of new doors. It’s giving everybody a little bit of insight into the Chinese culture.”

“I think [Shen Yun] might inspire some others to follow in those talented dancers’ footsteps.”
