A car exploded after a man sprayed an aerosol deodorant and then lit a cigarette inside a car in Baltimore on Thursday, March 1, CBS Baltimore reported.

The blast blew the car doors open, tore part of the roof from the car, and ripped out the windshield. A nearby car was also damaged.

The man was taken to a hospital. Police say he is lucky to be alive and conscious.

The explosion took place in the parking lot of The Restaurant Store where the driver is a frequent customer.

A manager at The Restaurant Store told CBS he rushed out of the store and called 911 when he heard the explosion.

Authorities classified the incident as a “violent rumble” rather than an explosion since there was no fire.

Photos from the scene show that the vehicle belonged to Farm-to-Table Catering, a Woodstock, Maryland, business.

The car, a black Chevrolet HHR, is emblazoned with the company slogan: “We breed ‘em and feed em.’” That business is part of Braglio Farms, a family owned and operated farm established in 1962.

The farm breeds and rears pigs and cows. The company serves the pork and beef in their own restaurants in addition to offering the products to customers.

A phone call to Braglio Farms led to a voicemail. The company did not immediately respond to a Facebook message.
