Brazil claim record 12th FIVB World Volleyball GP win in Nanjing

Brazil claimed a record 12th FIVB Women’s Volleyball Grand Prix title, in the finals played in Nanjing from August 2 to 6.

Although losing to China 3-0 in their final round meeting they went on to edge Netherlands 3-2 to move forward to the semi-finals.

China won both of their final playoff matches by edging Netherland 3-2 as well as beating Brazil.

Serbia won both of their final round matches against USA 3-2 and Italy 3-1. The other semi-finalist spot was taken by Italy who although losing twice did enough to finish above USA who had a poor final round showing. USA and Netherlands were eliminated.

In the semi-finals China were beaten by Italy 3-1 and Brazil overcame Serbia 3-1 to move into the final. Brazil went on to win the final against Italy 3-2.

The 3rd place playoff was secured by Serbia outplaying China 3-1, to end another exciting round of Group 1 matches
