Ten-year-old Alexi received a surprise gift, a special tricycle, from Tampa police officers on Friday, June 1.
Alexi has spina bifida. He thought he was going to a doctor’s appointment. Instead, the destination was the Tampa Police Department (TPD), where officers presented him with the new bike.

A few months ago, Alexi and his family attended a bike safety rodeo.
Alexi’s siblings all won bikes. But Sergeant Colin McCoy saw Alexi crying.
“It was heartbreaking,” said Alexei’s mother. “But we have people like TPD, that has a wonderful heart.”
“Everybody on the squad was, ‘Well, we gotta do something about it,’” said Sergeant Colin McCoy.

Members of Tampa’s bike patrol made phone calls and raised enough money for the special tricycle.

Both Alexi and his mother thanked the officers for what they did.

“Thank you the police department that brought me this bike and God bless you guys,” Alexi exclaimed when he received the bike from the officers.
