Bill Cosby to Find Out in September If He’s Going to Jail
Bill Cosby will find out in September whether he is headed to jail.
According to a court order from Judge Steven O’Neill, Cosby will be sentenced between September 24 and 25.
“He was convicted of three counts of [indecent assault], so technically that would be up to 30 years,” said Kevin Steele, Montgomery County District Attorney, cited in the video.
Michael Donio, a retired New Jersey superior court judge, told USA Today that he expects Cosby will get fewer than five years in prison, but will not avoid time behind bars.
Last month, the 80-year-old comedian was found guilty on three counts of indecent sexual assault, stemming from the 2004 drugging and rape of Temple University employee Andrea Constand.
Cosby was released on a $1 million bond and is currently under house arrest.
USA Today reports that Cosby is under GPS monitoring and is only allowed to leave his Philadelphia-area home to see his lawyers or doctors.
Cosby’s defense team stated they would appeal the verdict.
