Bienvenido Reynoso, a 38 year-old supermarket employee, was struck by a stray bullet on April 10 during a shootout. The bullet was stopped by Reynosa’s belt buckle.

“I went outside and heard the shots and I hit the floor,” said Reynoso,” according to WPVI-TV, the local ABC affiliate. “I didn’t feel nothing... I was checking out my body.”

He was preparing to take a hand truck outside. Surveillance video shows a snack cake being shot off the shelf above his head.

Christian Vinas, 21, working behind the counter, also dove to the ground when the shooting began.

“That has to be God,” Vinas said. “Out of all the places you could get hit in the body, you get hit right there. It was truly amazing.”

The incident happened just before 4 p.m. in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia, next to the Schuylkill River.

Another man was shot in the stomach on the street, and taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in critical condition, according to police.
