Father/Daughter Family Butchers
Bryan Flannery and his daughter Katie are partners in Flannery Beef, a family owned company based out of Marin County. The family has been in the meat business for generations, but Katie never dreamed she would join them.
“I wanted to get as far away from this as I could, so I first went to Pennsylvania, but that wasn’t far enough, so then I went to Italy, but… it draws you back.”
She originally teamed up with her dad for the sole purpose of learning business, but found she had a knack for the meat industry. According to her father, sales tripled three months after she started, and the company has been growing steadily ever since.
Flannery Beef is found in dozens of high-end restaurants around the Bay Area and across the country. They pride themselves as being “gatekeepers of quality.” When Bryan talks with a potential new client he tells them, “I don’t want to sell you everything you’re going to put on your menu. I just want to be your top shelf.”
