Baby Tamandua Gets a Piggy Back at London Zoo
London Zoo has released footage of a two-month-old baby tamandua that recently made her public debut.
Poco, the new-born tamandua—a small tree living anteater that hunts at night—was something of a surprise for the staff at London zoo.
Hoping for baby tamanduas, they had introduced a new male to their resident female in October. New-born Poco arrived five months later on Easter Monday—much earlier than they had hoped possible.
“We were confident Ria was pregnant as she’d just started to put on some weight, but we weren’t expecting to welcome a new member of the family quite so soon,” zoo spokesman Steve Goodwin told Storyful.
