A man related to the New York Assembly Member Carmen Arroyo and the New York City Council Member Maria del Carmen Arroyo pleaded guilty on Friday to charges that he embezzled $115,000 from a non-profit organization funded by taxpayers.

According to the New York City Department of Investigation (DOI), Richard Izquierdo-Arroyo took the money and gave it to some of his family members, which include his grandmother— New York Assemblywoman Arroyo.

Some of the money was allegedly used to put in a new floor in his grandmother’s office, as well as to help fund her campaign, said the DOI. Izquierdo-Arroyo pleaded guilty at a federal court in Manhattan.

The two politicians were not indicted in the case.
