Reggie Bush’s on-and-off girlfriend Lilit Avagyan became his wife earlier this year.
The marriage came after the couple had a daughter, Briseis, together.
Explaining the name, Bush told Life & Style:
“It’s Greek, We were watching the movie Troy and my fiancée, who was my girlfriend at the time, said, ‘If we ever have a daughter, can we name her that?’ And a couple of months later, wouldn’t you know! The name was picked out months before she was even thought about. It’s crazy.”
The couple had Briseis on May 6, 2013.
“I was nervous, I was excited, I was scared, I was happy,” he recalls of the first moment he laid eyes on his little one. “Every emotion possible was running through me. And then you’re like, ‘I can’t believe this is my baby.’ It was really emotional when I was first holding her.”
And Bush says the birth changed him.
“It has grounded me more. When you have a child, everything you do is about them,” he said. “You’re thinking about your child first. Everything. It’s grounded me a lot more.”
The marriage took place in July 2014 at the Grand Del Mar in San Diego.
Bush, 29, is a running back with the Detroit Lions while Avagyan, 26, an Armenian native, is a professional dancer.
Bush’s relationship status has been under close watch ever since he dated Kim Kardashian on-and-off for several years before they broke up for god in March 2010.
Kardashian also has Armenian heritage.
Bush joked that his marriage hit him pretty hard.
“I’m tapped out. This wedding is costing me a lot of money!” he told TMZ, noting that the guest list mostly included family members.
TMZ later reported that the NFL star ordered an array of food for the wedding, including shrimp potstickers, lobster bisque, and roasted jumbo prawn.
