Armed Civilian Shoots, Kills Gunman Who Opened Fire at Oklahoma Restaurant

Multiple people have been injured after a gunman opened fire at an Oklahoma City restaurant on Thursday, May 24. He was fatally shot by an armed civilian, police have said.

The Oklahoma City Police Department said in a statement that a man walked into a Louie’s Grill and Bar restaurant at Lake Hefner and open fired with a gun around 6:30 p.m. local time on Thursday. Four people were injured, with two sustaining gunshot wounds.

A civilian with a pistol confronted the gunman outside the restaurant and fatally shot him.

The two victims who were shot have been taken to a hospital and are expected to survive.

Police said the investigation is currently underway. A large number of witnesses have been detained for questioning.

“The shooter’s motive is unknown and his identity is not yet confirmed,” police said in a tweet.

Oklahoma City Police Public Information Officer Bo Matthews said in a press conference after the shooting that two female customers are among the injured, reported ABC News.

Police said there is no longer an active threat.
