BOSTON—The St. Patrick’s Day parade in South Boston was a wet one this year, but that didn’t stop people from coming out to party. As the parade participants marched on, the sound of water sloshing around in their shoes could be heard between the hollering and the cheering of a very happy, though very wet, crowd lining Broadway Street.

People from all over the country showed up in Boston to enjoy the parade, which is put on by the veterans every year. A group of spectators wearing green ponchos held a sign that read, “Here from Iowa.” Despite the damp weather, people were still dancing on the sidewalks, cheering and having fun.

Massachusetts, as the most Irish state in the United States, is hosting parades all across the state to commemorate St. Patrick’s Day, including events in Worcester and Abington. It’s safe to say that March is always a green month for Massachusetts residents—they not only enjoy the return of the greenery that spring brings but also enjoy St. Patrick’s Day celebrations all month long.

In addition to the festive parades taking place across the state, Massachusetts also celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with Irish musicians, theatrical performances, cuisine, and of course, festive drinking.
