An 84-year-old woman in Shasta County, California, was arrested for shooting in the direction of her neighbors’ three kids after complaining they were being too noisy.

On Feb. 9, Betty Frances Sanders was reportedly annoyed by her neighbors’ kids for riding motorcycles. She argued with her neighbor through the fence that separates their property about the noise before firing a handgun in the direction of the mother and three kids. The kids range in age from 8 to 10, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office reports.

According to a police log of the incident, the neighbor, Angela Rollins, called police after the shots were fired. The log says Rollins “couldn’t see the type of gun but could hear the bullets going over her children’s heads.”
According to a Shasta County Sheriff’s press release, Sanders’s husband was also involved in the argument before the shooting. The sheriff’s office said one round of shots was fired.

The woman and kids were about 20 feet away from Sanders at the time. No one was hit. Deputies arrived and found the handgun while talking to Sanders about the incident, the sheriff’s office said.

The deputies arrested Sanders for assault with a firearm and child endangerment. Her bail was set at $50,000.
