A 7-month-old child died in a hot car in Georgia, as harrowing details have emerged about the incident.

The child died after being found in a hot car on Tuesday at a motel parking lot in Kingsland, News4Jax reported. Officials arrived at the Quality Inn on Robert Edenfield Drive after they were notified that the baby wasn’t breathing.

Officers responding to the scene found the child dead, according to the report.

A woman at the hotel, according to a witness, yelled that the baby was choking and urged someone to “save my baby.” The person tried to perform CPR on the baby, but to no avail.

Temperatures in the area got to above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

“We are attempting to handle the investigation with the utmost sensitivity and care out of respect for the family as possible to ensure the integrity of our investigation,” Kingsland Police Department Inspector Donald Belcher was quoted as saying by News4Jax.

A man who rushed to help told Action News Jax, “She was screaming. She was just saying, ‘Save my baby, save my baby.”

The mother was lying on the ground with the child wrapped in the blanket.

“I got over there and unwrapped him,” said the man, adding that he performed CPR.

No one has been taken into police custody, said the police department.

The Kingsland Police Department issued a statement on the death.

“We are attempting to handle the investigation with the utmost sensitivity and care out of respect for the family as possible to ensure the integrity of our investigation. Dealing with an infant death is hard enough for a family to deal with without added stress from publicity,” the statement said. “We would like to ensure that our investigators have adequate time to conduct their investigation to accurately put the facts together before we release any further information.”

The department, however, added that no “additional information will be released at this time,” including the child’s name.
