The 2019 model year is the fifth generation for the Toyota Avalon, and this newest version was designed, engineered, and built all in the United States. Toyota offers four grade levels for this roomy mid-size sedan, with the XLE being the entry grade and the Touring being the premium model.

The engine is a powerful 3.5-liter V6 featuring latest Toyota technology like D-4S dual injection and Variable Valve Timing-intelligent Wide (VVT-iW). The ignition system is Toyota Direct Ignition, which eliminates the need for a distributor by using individual ignition coils.

This engine delivers 301 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 267 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,700 rpm. The estimated fuel economy is 27 mpg city and 32 mpg highway, for a combined 25 mpg.

The current fifth generation started with the 2018 model year. The 2019 model adds even more quality, comfort, technology, and performance.

The new V6 and Hybrid System powertrains offer more power and better fuel efficiency. The Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, with available adaptive variable suspension, adds to the structure’s strength and stability.

One of the most remarkable features is the new 9-inch touchscreen with Entune 3.0 Audio Plus or Entune 3.0 Premium Audio. And Apple CarPlay is standard—a first for Toyota. Also standard is a 1,200-watt, 14-speaker JBL audio system, giving occupants greatly enhanced media enjoyment. Qi-compatible wireless charging provides an additional convenience in this mobile era. There is also a new available LED Vision Tech headlamps system.

The Avalon has a daring appearance on the outside, contrasting with its comfortable ride inside. The styling is authentically exhilarating and gives the vehicle a powerful stance.

The overall height is lower in the 2019 model, giving Avalon a sleek look with a fast-dropping roofline and short C pillars. The hip points have also been lowered, and the rear of the roof has been moved backward, creating an elegant and flowing silhouette while maintaining ample head, shoulder, and leg room.

The LED headlamps have a slimmer shape, evoking an advanced and technical sporty image. The tangential vents in the front bumper enhance both the aerodynamics and the visuals.

The Avalon has a distinctive front grille outlined by either a chrome or piano-black surround. Both models ride on alloy wheels—ranging from 17 to 19 inches depending on the model. The sportier XSE and the Touring have a sport-grille mesh insert, piano-black side mirrors, and a piano-black rear spoiler to go with the piano-black grille surround.

The cabin space is also premium, invoking a simple elegance meshed with advanced tech. Genuine wood and aluminum are used for the instrument panel and door ornamentations, creating a high-quality, exciting interior with finely crafted workmanship.

The seating is comfortable, with the instrumental panel designed to represent a “center floating stack” concept. The eight-way power-adjustable front seats, with four-way power lumbar support for the driver, plus 60/40 folding heated rear seats are found on the Limited and Touring trims.

Safety features such as hill start assist control, blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and star safety system are all standard. The star safety system feature set includes brake assist, smart stop technology, vehicle stability control, electronic brake-force distribution, traction control, and anti-lock brake system.

What a great opportunity to drive a remarkable car. The driver will feel confident in the enhanced driving experience and enriched by the technology available.

This new 2019 Avalon has the speed and thrust of a thoroughbred, the heart and power of a quarter horse, and the strength and stamina of a work horse.
