After driving the Honda CR-V, it was easy for me to understand why Honda sales are doing so well.

One has to be careful when describing the Honda CR-V. Words like style, good looks, and quality are fine for almost any old car, but with Honda, only such expressions as sculpting, sultry shape, aerodynamics, meticulous attention, and captivating detail can do any kind of job describing an absolutely stunning vehicle.

One look and you become an instant expert in good taste.  It won’t matter whether you are pulling through your favorite drive-through restaurant or just taking your place for the valet to collect your Honda, you, and everyone else watching, will know that IMPRESSION has become your key word.

Honda CR-V has a 166 hp 2.4 Liter DOHC 16-Valve I-VTEC 4-Cylinder Engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission. This gets you 10.2 L/100 km in the city and 7.3 L/100 km on the road. Aluminum-Alloy and 161lb torque with 4200 rpm gives you the punch to accelerate quickly letting the power from the engine wash you in a cascade of adrenaline.

The CR-V is compact, but never at the expense of luxury, quality, or roominess. The Honda Satellite-Linked navigation system, with a database of maps and over seven million points of interest, complements the satellite sound and the audio system that offers an auxiliary input jack. Add the rearview camera that is activated when in reverse, and you are set to go.

Five adults sit comfortably in a sea of leather, while eight-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support plus dual-zone automatic climate control gives you a natural feeling. Even when I placed the driver’s seat way back, the person sitting directly behind me had more than adequate foot and legroom.

Side impact door beams, vehicle stability assists, driver’s front passenger side airbags, as well as dual stage airbags, and finally, side curtain airbags with rollover sensor make Honda an exceptionally safe car.

Today more than ever North Americans are working hard, paying more for gas, and watching their money. I personally like to see us buy as many items made in our own country as possible. Well, 25 years ago Honda began assembling cars in the North America. Today, almost four out of five Hondas sold in the U.S. are assembled in North America. Many are developed here, too.

When I was in college years ago, I bought a small-sized Honda. I put nearly a quarter million miles on it before I sold it to a buddy who drove it for so long the red paint faded. It still may be running somewhere! Just like my Honda of old, Hondas today have an excellent resale value because of their great mileage and reliability.

I almost forgot. This completely packaged Honda CR-V sells for around CD$35,190.
