19-Year-Old Dutch Model Found Dead After Falling From Condo

A 19-year-old Dutch model was found dead after she reportedly fell from a balcony from the 20th floor of a condominium in Malaysia.

Ivana Esther Robert Smit was found on the balcony of a sixth-floor condo in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, Dec. 7, the New Straits Times reported.

She was reportedly drinking with a man and his wife before she walked to the balcony and fell.

“Ivana, who was in the nude, was believed to have walked to the balcony and fell over. She crashed through an awning of a sixth floor unit,” a source told the New Straits Times.

Her death was ruled as “sudden,” and officials think there was no criminal activity related to the case.

Smit, who had Dutch-Belgian citizenship, appeared in Malaysia’s Supermodel Search 2014.

The father of Smit, however, told The Star that he believed his daughter was pushed out of the apartment. She was staying with an American man and his wife from Kazakhstan.

He claimed there were bruises found on his daughter’s neck.

“Very strange that the American couple did nothing from 10am to 3pm. Ivana’s belongings were still in their apartment. The police tell me that the statements of the Americans are the same,” Marcel, the father, told the paper.

“My daughter can no longer contradict them,” Marcel said.

He said that neighbors heard arguments coming from the room where she fell.

The Dutch Embassy has asked Interpol to investigate the case, according to The Sun Daily.

Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Shaharuddin Abdullah said, “Our investigations and the post-mortem report shows no elements of foul play.”
