Officials in North Carolina are asking the public to help to locate a missing 12-year-old Union County boy.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office said Chancellor “Chance” Ashton Kelly was seen at around 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, on Salmon River Drive in the Meriwether neighborhood of Indian Trail, according to WSOC-TV.
He was walking from home toward a pool area, officials said.
Deputies believe that the boy, a student at Sun Valley Middle School, left home voluntarily. He wasn’t in class on Wednesday, according to the report.
Police added that they’ve searched the area near where he was last seen, but found no trace of him.
Chance is described as black and light skinned, about 4 feet 9 inches tall, and 80 pounds. He was seen wearing khaki pants, black Air Jordan sneakers, and a black shirt.
Chance’s grandmother told NBC Charlotte that her grandson didn’t show any signs of mental illness.
If someone sees Kelly or knows about his whereabouts, they’re urged to call 911.
