Police are investigating a homicide after they found a man’s body inside a burned-out car in Mississauga on Sunday night.

The Peel Regional Police received a call at 6:51p.m. on Sunday evening about a vehicle fire in the Dixie/Lakeshore area.

When the Mississauga Fire Emergency Services arrived to put out the fire, a body was discovered inside the car, according to Glocal News.
They believe the body to be a man, and according to Mississauga News, Platoon Chief Dino Bernardi confirms the area is now being treated as a crime scene.
The Twelfth Criminal Investigations Bureau, the homicide division, and the missing persons bureau are all investigating this incident, according to the Peel Region Police Twitter.
The police are unsure as to who the victim is, but Global News reports that the police has one person in custody.

“There were some witnesses that were able to assist us in locating an individual that they believe may have been involved. Officers were in the area and were able to locate that same individual,” Const. Akhil Mooken said, according to Global News.

The Peel Regional Police urges in a tweet that people with any information about the incident should contact the investigators.
